When was Christ’s sacrifice accepted?

The veil of the Temple was torned from top to bottom

Or, when did the Father accept Christ’s death as a sacrifice?

When Elijah’s offering was accepted, heavenly signs were prevalent:

Then the fire of the Lord fell and consumed the burnt sacrifice, and the wood and the stones and the dust, and licked up the water that was in the trench.

And when all the people saw it, they fell on their faces and they said, “The Lord, He is the God! The Lord, He is the God!” 1 Kings 18:38-39

Surely immediately upon Christ’s death, the Father indicates his acceptance by manifesting numerous heavenly signs: (1) the veil torned from top to bottom (2) the sun stopped shinning and darkness covered the earth for three hours (3) the rocks rent, the earth opened and the saints risen.

The sun stopped shinning and darkness covered the earth for three hours

And even a terrified Gentile centurion among those who were striked with fear, exclaimed, “Truly, this was the Son of God!”

“And behold, the veil of the temple was rent in two from the top to the bottom, and the earth quaked and the rocks rent” Matthew 27:51.

“And the veil of the temple was rent in two from the top to the bottom” Mark 15:38.

“And it was about the sixth hour, and there was a darkness over all the earth until the ninth hour. And the sun was darkened, and the veil of the temple was rent in the midst” Luke 23:45-45.

“And when the sixth hour had come, there was darkness over the whole land until the ninth hour” Mark 15:33.

“Jesus, when He had cried out again with a loud voice, yielded up the ghost.

And the rocks rent, the earth opened and the saints risen . . .

“And behold, the veil of the temple was rent in two from the top to the bottom, and the earth quaked and the rocks rent. And the graves were opened; and many bodies of the saints who slept arose, and came out of the graves after His resurrection, and went into the Holy City and appeared unto many.

“Now when the centurion, and those who were with him watching Jesus, saw the earthquake and those things that were done, they feared greatly, saying, ‘Truly, this was the Son of God!’” Matthew 27:50-54

And as the Sabbath began, came Mary Magdalene and the other Mary to see the sepulcher:

“And behold, there was a great earthquake, for the angel of the Lord descended from Heaven, and came and rolled back the stone from the door, and sat upon it” Matthew 28:2

And even a terrified centurion exclaimed, “Truly, this was the Son of God!”

Further comfirmation that his sacrifice was accepted by the Father was indicated by the angel saying to Mary Magdalene and the other Mary who came to the sepulcher.

And the angel answered and said unto the women, “Fear ye not, for I know that ye seek Jesus, who was crucified.

He is not here, for He is risen, as He said. Come, see the place where the Lord lay.

And go quickly and tell His disciples that He is risen from the dead, and behold, He goeth before you into Galilee. There shall ye see Him. Lo, I have told you.” Matthew 28:5-7

Summary: Christ’s death was accepted instantly upon his death; otherwise, he would not have risen, as only the Father could raise him.

Second, the New Testament is built upon the Old Testament, not the Old Testament upon the New. And in the Old Testament the events during the Spring Festivals are closely connected:

(1) on the fourteenth, at Passover, the Lamb was sacrificed, at even, (2) on the fifteenth, the partaking of the Passover where the Israelites were to eat and share in the sacrifice (3) on the sixteenth, the wave sheaf offering, the omer was waved by the high priest as firstfruits to be accepted before the Lord, and (4) the journey began to Pentecost, or Shavuot, and fifty days later, on Sivan 6th, where “Pentecost has fully come,” it marks the end or culmination of the journey.
