What is the Day of the LORD?
The Day of the Lord is a day of Judgement, a day of trouble and distress, a day of darkness and gloominess, a day of the Lord’s wrath and a day of destruction. Multitudes, multitudes in the valley of decision; for the day of the Lord is near in the valley of decision upon all the nations.
Blow ye the trumpet in Zion, and sound an alarm in my holy mountain! Let all the inhabitants of the land tremble; and if a man fled from a lion, and a bear met him; or went into the house and leaned his hand on the wall, and a serpent bit him; they shall be in pain as a woman that travaileth; they shall be amazed one at another; their faces shall be as flames.
And I will show wonders in the heavens and in the earth—blood and fire and pillars of smoke. Alas! for that day is great, so that none is like it. The stars of heaven and the constellations thereof shall not give their light; the sun shall be turned into darkness and the moon into blood.
For the day of the Lord of hosts shall be upon every one that is proud and lofty, and upon every one that is lifted up; there shall be distress upon men, that they shall walk like blind men. It is even the time of Jacob’s trouble, where the sword shall devour, and it shall be sated and made drunk with their blood; and it shall also be the time of the Gentiles.
14 The great day of the Lord is near; it is near and hasteneth greatly, even the voice of the day of the Lord; the mighty man shall cry there bitterly.
15 That day is a day of wrath, a day of trouble and distress, a day of waste and desolation, a day of darkness and gloominess, a day of clouds and thick darkness,
16 a day of the trumpet and alarm against the fortified cities and against the high towers.
17 “And I will bring distress upon men, that they shall walk like blind men, because they have sinned against the Lord; and their blood shall be poured out as dust, and their flesh as the dung.”
18 Neither their silver nor their gold shall be able to deliver them in the day of the Lord’S wrath; but the whole land shall be devoured by the fire of His jealousy, for He indeed shall make a speedy riddance of all them that dwell in the land. Zephaniah 1:14-18
9 Behold, the day of the Lord cometh, cruel, both with wrath and fierce anger, to lay the land desolate; and He shall destroy the sinners thereof out of it.
10 For the stars of heaven and the constellations thereof shall not give their light; the sun shall be darkened in his going forth, and the moon shall not cause her light to shine.
