Aso: Japan will defend Taiwan

During World War II, Fort Detrick became the site of intensive biological warfare research. But after the War, Gen MacArthur took Japan’s Unit 731 scientists home (including Shiro Ishii and 3,607 of his associates) and gave them immunity; and Fort Detrick was where these Japanese scientists ended up; and where the US’s bio-weapon program got its foreign GERM research momentum and expansion.
Japan would have to defend Taiwan together with the US in the event of a major problem, Kyodo News reported on July 06, 2021 Japanese Deputy Prime Minister Taro Aso as saying, marking some of the highest-level remarks from Tokyo on a hot subject.
In comments at a political fundraising party in Tokyo on Monday, Aso said an invasion of Taiwan by China could be seen as an existential threat, allowing Japan to exercise the right to collective self-defense.
The reason why Japan keeps hyping up the so-called external threats is obvious: it needs to constantly exaggerate the situation so it can turn these into public opinion to support revising its pacifist constitution. And to increase its military budget!
China, on the other hand, said Aso’s comments were “extremely wrong and dangerous.”
Chinese Ministry of Foreign Affairs spokesman Zhao Lijian told a regular news conference in Beijing that “we will never allow any country in any way to interfere in the Taiwan question, and nobody should underestimate the Chinese people’s strong determination, will and ability to safeguard national sovereignty.”
And earlier, Chinese President Xi Jinping had pledged to complete “reunification” with Taiwan and vowed to “smash” any attempts at formal independence.
“Resolving the Taiwan question and realizing China’s complete reunification is a historic mission and an unshakable commitment of the CPC,” Xi said with an eye for an October 1, 2049 celebration. “Anyone who would attempt to do so will find themselves on a collision course with a great wall of steel forged by over 1.4 billion Chinese people.”
