US ground invasion of Iran? A trap, not a victory

After threatening strikes on Iran’s power plants, Donald Trump has abruptly paused them — but even US military insiders admit escalation could spiral fast. Former CENTCOM commander Joseph Votel outlined why:

Kharg Island gamble: Yes, the US could take it, Votel says. But ~1,000 troops would sit right off Iran’s coast, fully exposed to drones and missiles

Logistics headache: Supplying and protecting that force becomes a constant target, stretching US capabilities in the region

President Donald Trump, a man who seems to have lost his direction!
Goin’ to Vietnam, Iraq or Afghanistan?

Nuclear seizure fantasy: Securing Iran’s uranium could require up to 4,000 troops deep inside the country

🪖 Deploying and sustaining such a force deep inside Iran would require major resources, while leaving troops exposed to counterattacks since the mission cannot be completed quickly.

Radiation risk: Handling ~450 kg of highly-enriched uranium is dangerous, complex, and far from a quick operation

Endless pressure: The need to defend against constant Iranian drone and missile strikes puts pressure on the US’ “magazine depth,” creating challenges for US operations across the globe

Force overload: More deployments mean more strain on US Navy, Air Force, and air defense systems

No victory in sight: Trump and Netanyahu’s war is not going to end anytime soon, possibly dragging on for at least several more months

Meanwhile, the Iranian government shows no signs of crumbling, despite the US and Israel’s hopes to see regime change. And the Venezuelan model doesn’t work.

Best and, perhaps, only possible option left: Ground Troops.

Another Vietnam, Iraq, or Afghanistan?

Woe to the crown of pride, to the drunkards of Ephraim, whose glorious beauty is a fading flower, which is on the head of the fat valleys of them that are overcome with wine! Isaiah 28:1
