Iran’s 10 demands include £1 million-a-ship fee for Hormuz Strait
Iran’s humiliating 10 demands for Trump include £1 million-a-ship fee for Hormuz Strait; but the fragile ceasefire makes no mention of ending Iran’s nuclear enrichment; US Forces leaving the region; and Israel has said the ceasefire will not include Lebanon.

President Trump has agreed to a two-week ceasefire with Iran to negotiate on their 10-point proposal, including lifting sanctions, guaranteed no attacks and permanent end to war.
Iran’s list of demands put to President Trump has been made public following a ceasefire agreement, including an eye-watering $2 million (£1.1 million)-a-ship fee to use the Strait of Hormuz.
Washington and Tehran last night agreed on a deal to avoid a horrifying escalation of conflict in the Middle East.
The US president had set a deadline of 20:00 EDT (01:00 BST) for a deal or else “a whole civilisation will die tonight,” pouring petrol onto the flames of his previous threats to target bridges and power plants.
At the eleventh hour, Trump took to Truth Social to confirm a last-minute cancellation of the planned attack, an “immediate ceasefire,” and the reopening of the Strait of Hormuz.
Trump wrote in a post on Truth Social: “I agree to suspend the bombing and attack of Iran for a period of two weeks. This will be a double-sided CEASEFIRE!”
The US President further stated: “We received a 10-point proposal from Iran, and believe it is a workable basis on which to negotiate. Almost all of the various points of past contention have been agreed to between the United States and Iran, but a two-week period will allow the Agreement to be finalized and consummated.”
Iran’s 10-point plan includes:
- Guarantee that Iran will not be attacked again
- Permanent end to the war, not just a ceasefire
- End to Israeli strikes in Lebanon
- Lifting of all US sanctions on Iran
- End to all regional fighting against Iranian allies
- In return, Iran would open the Strait of Hormuz
- Iran would impose a Hormuz fee of $2 million per ship
- Iran would split these fees with Oman
- Iran to provide rules for safe passage through Hormuz
- Iran to use Hormuz fees for reconstruction instead of reparations
Tragedy avoided… for two weeks
Iranian Foreign Minister Abbas Araghchi later announced Iran will agree to a ceasefire “if attacks against Iran are halted.”
He said: “For a period of two weeks, safe passage through the Strait of Hormuz will be possible.”
This will take place “via coordination with Iran’s Armed Forces and with due consideration of technical limitations,” he said.
It came after the Prime Minister of Pakistan, Shehbaz Sharif, called on Trump to extend his deadline for two weeks “to allow diplomacy to run its course.”
He also asked Iran to open the Strait of Hormuz.
In a post on X, Shehbaz Sharif wrote: “Diplomatic efforts for peaceful settlement of the ongoing war in the Middle East are progressing steadily, strongly and powerfully with the potential to lead to substantive results in near future.
“To allow diplomacy to run its course, I earnestly request President Trump to extend the deadline for two weeks.
“Pakistan, in all sincerity, requests the Iranian brothers to open Strait of Hormuz for a corresponding period of two weeks as a goodwill gesture.
“We also urge all warring parties to observe a ceasefire everywhere for two weeks to allow diplomacy to achieve conclusive termination of war, in the interest of long-term peace and stability in the region.”
Woe to the crown of pride, to the drunkards of Ephraim, whose glorious beauty is a fading flower, which is on the head of the fat valleys of them that are overcome with wine! Isaiah 28:1
