China’s next Carriers be Thorium-N Powered?

iMedia News • August 27, 2023

The world’s first thorium nuclear reactor operates in Gansu, now providing electricity to 1,000 households; later to 100,000 households; to be powered by a 373-megawatt reactor. Two thorium nuclear reactors would amount to 746 -megawatt.

China plans to build a 110,000 ton ‘super aircraft carrier’

Compare this with the most advanced American Carrier:

Two reactors will be installed on each Gerald R. Ford-class carrier, providing a power generation capacity at least 25% greater than the 550 MW (thermal) of the two A4W reactors in a Nimitz-class carrier.

Thus the power generated by the Gerald R. Ford-class carrier would amount to 687.5 MW (thermal).

Two thorium nuclear reactors for either of the China’s PLAN 004 or 005 aircraft carrier would power with 746 -megawatt; and would be more powerful than the two reactors installed on a Gerald R Ford-class carrier. So what is stopping China from installing their next carriers with thorium nuclear reactors?
